The Mosel

Leiwen, Germany on the Mosel River

Landal Green Parks in Leiwen is set overlooking the 180 degree turn in the Mosel River.

We have been here numerous times. Always a winner for a family holiday. Equipped with an indoor pool, an indoor playground, loads of outdoor activities and sports and one big cuddly roaming Bollo the Bear (Landal's mascot). We spent a week here with friends and family.

Waiting for dinner at the Zummethof Restaurant...

Our home for the week :) Luckily no one even batted an eye lid at our camper which we very conveniently parked next to our house.

The giant (2m 11cm) at the back of this photo is Henk Pieterse, Dutch ex-prof basketballer (although he may have missed his calling as a DJ). For several hours he had the kids mesmerised. The music was cranked up and we were soon grooving through some on court skills with his voice booming in the background.

Kai, Marlou, Iris, Yvonne and Fynn with HENK. Check out that wing span!

Back on home turf. We reached the 10,000km today! (100,000 on the speedometer).

BBQ at the Baarlosestraat with the cousins.

A productive few days back in NL sorting out some things. Not to mention the fantastic day (kid free!!) we spent covering 70km on our road bikes in the area of Vaals (where Belgium, NL and Germany meet). Fond memories from 2000 (?) with Aimee and John as we passed the camping we stayed at where we watched the Amstel Gold Race action fly by.

Here we are with just 5 weeks left of our big adventure. In a few days we head south to spend our last few weeks travelling in the camper through France. If we time it right we hope to meet up with some friends and catch some Vuelta action in the Pyrenees.

Happy pedalling to the Muggaccinos and to Kerry and Maureen! Sante!
